Details: Gail Archer is an international concert organist, recording artist, choral conductor and lecturer. Dr. Archer is college organist at Vassar College, director of the music program at Barnard College where she conducts the Barnard-Columbia Chorus and Chamber Singers and a faculty member of Harriman Institute, Columbia University. According to The American Organist March 2023, "[She] should be commended for her commitment to [playing] music from beyond the well-worn path. ...This [concert] by an experienced and prolific artist deepens our understanding of [Ukrainian and Russian] music..." The Concert For Peace is dedicated to the people of Ukraine whose lives have been upended by war.
Ms. Archer will play a program on St. John the Baptist historic Hook & Hastings Organ (1879) Opus 937 featuring the works of 20th century Ukrainian and Russian composers including Svitlana Strova, Tadeusz Machl, Alexander Glasunow and Cesar Chui among others. Join us in our fully assessable church on Sunday, April 28 at 3:00 PM followed by a reception in the church hall.
