Cost: Tickets: Gen: $30; Sr/Stu: $20
Performing: Boston Choral Ensemble, dir. Andrew Shenton
Details: The Boston Choral Ensemble season opener is entitled “French Connection: Fête”. It has as its centerpiece the stunning Mass in G by Francis Poulenc. Composed in 1937 this landmark work for unaccompanied eight-voice choir is one of the twentieth century’s most challenging choral works. The concert is framed as a festival service as might have been sung at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, and Poulenc’s masterpiece is on the program with Maurice Duruflé’s beautiful Motets on Gregorian Themes, and works by Messiaen and Langlais.
